Biography
Col. (ret) William S. Tully, Jr. is a retired U.S. Air Force officer with 25 years of combat, teaching, and international leadership experience.
During his Air Force career, Tully served as a squadron commander, in-theater director of operations, training officer, and installation inspector general. He is a veteran of Operations Just Cause, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle, and Iraqi Freedom.
Tully instructed more than 500 Air War College students – including military, civilian, and international students – in leadership, strategy, ethics, and other courses. Tully has also taught more than 3,000 students as a civilian adjunct professor. He is the author of Leadership: A Prescriptive Approach.
Tully was awarded the Bronze Star and numerous other accolades. He earned a B.A. in history from Alderson-Broaddus College, an M.S. in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an M.A. in military operational art and science from Air Command and Staff College, an M.A. in strategic studies from the Air War College, and a doctorate in education – applied aviation studies from Oklahoma State University.
