Biography
Sergeant Major Brett R. Weimer is a graduate of the US Army Special Forces Qualification Course, Fort Bragg NC, and the US Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX, where he received the 2009 General Ralph E Haines Award for Student Research. He is a US patentee and dedicated historian focused on US National Security Strategies, with special emphasis on Irregular Warfare.
Weimer began his military career in the US Marine Corps as a Scout Sniper and Reconnaissance Marine before serving for 25 years in the US Army Special Forces regiment as a Green Beret Medic, Team Sergeant, and Company Sergeant Major.
Notable deployments include Joint Special Operations in Bosnia-Hercegovina, 1998; augmentee to CIA Ground Branch during the initial response to the 9-11 attacks; and ground force operator for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He completed six tours in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, notably serving as Senior Enlisted Advisor for Task Force-10, NATO ISAF, Kabul Afghanistan; G-3 Operations and Senior Enlisted Advisor for Doctrine, US Army John F Kennedy Special Warfare Center and Schools.
Since retiring, Weimer has focused self-directed studies and research examining the efficacy of US military actions and strategies in the post WWII era, and US Counter Terrorism, Counterinsurgency and Unconventional Warfare.
