I heard about a plane crashing into the World Trade Center while I was outside the North Gate of the Air Force Academy in the shadow of a B-52 on static display.
Coincidentally, the U.S. used B-52s to drop enormous bombs during the Vietnam War, killing untold numbers of innocents.
Now, untold numbers of American innocents were being killed by planes hijacked by terrorists.
My takeaway, and I hope yours: killing innocents is wrong, whether it’s done by the U.S. military or by terrorists. We need to put a stop to the killing; an eye for an eye means we both go blind.
