As the Rafah crossing into Egypt remains closed, humanitarian aid is still blocked from entering Gaza ahead of the likely ground invasion by Israel.

Matt Hoh calls out America’s role in the bloodshed: “The US military and diplomatic corps should be ashamed of their collaboration and support for Israel’s ongoing violations of international law and Israel’s opening phases of an ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza. As horrid and condemnable as Hamas’ attacks on civilians on October 7 were, Israel’s collective punishment through mass aerial bombardment, denial of water, food and fuel, targeting of critical infrastructure, and forced migration are deliberate and blatant war crimes against a civilian population that should receive no support from the U.S. Instead, the U.S. should do everything in its great power to implement a ceasefire and begin a long-needed political process to achieve peace, stability, self-determination and justice for all Israelis and Palestinians. Similarly, the increased US naval presence in the eastern Mediterranean is escalating tensions and dramatically raising the risk of a catastrophic regional war – a war long wanted by many in the US foreign policy elite as part of a restructuring of the Middle East.”
