The importance of this moment lays not so much in the ruling against Israel or how the United Nations Security Council will act to support the ICJ but whether the United States will adhere to international law or continue to obstruct United Nations actions to protect Israel.

How the US will respond will indicate a future where the world operates by international law and respect for international institutions or is governed by might makes right. US actions will be a test of everything those who won World War II put in place to advance civilization and ensure never again had real meaning. It is a test of the true nature of the United States.”
