Republican Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee Win First Annual “Profiles in Cowardice” Award
Highlighting American leaders who have been derelict in their duty, the public voted for their favorite coward
Washington, D.C. (February 25, 2026) – The Eisenhower Media Network announced today that the Republican Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee are the winners of the first annual Profiles in Cowardice Award. The winners were revealed in an ad campaign, and the awards are currently being hand-delivered to their offices. The public was asked to nominate and “vote for their favorite coward,” and the Republican SASC members were the clear winners amid a large class of nominees, including Former President George W. Bush, Gen (ret.) David Petraeus, Secretary of ‘War’ Pete Hegseth, Sen Lindsey Graham, and more.
“The Republican members of the Senate Armed Services Committee have a duty to the Constitution and their country,” the ad states. “Instead, they chose to protect themselves. Out of fear of being primaried, they rubber-stamped Pete Hegseth as the self-styled Secretary of ‘War’ to cater to Trump and his MAGA cronies… America now has the least qualified Secretary of Defense in modern history leading our armed forces, and he has already made the country and the world less safe.”
“For their role in rubber-stamping the nomination of Secretary of ‘War’ Pete Hegseth and enabling the country’s descent into authoritarianism, the Eisenhower Media Network is displeased to award the 1st Annual Profiles in Cowardice Award to the Republican members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, America’s greatest cowards for the year 2025.”

In homage to President John F. Kennedy’s Profiles in Courage, Profiles in Cowardice aimed to highlight the American leaders who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, only to sit silently amidst the country’s turn toward authoritarianism.
President Donald Trump and his administration have taken several actions that violate the Constitution and push our country further into authoritarianism. Some of these actions include: launching strikes on Iran without Congressional approval; the continued illegal kidnapping, detention, and removal of U.S. residents; expanding military use domestically; planning the forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza; targeting those who are perceived as adversaries, including independent media, members of Congress, universities, and law firms, and more.
“While this award utilizes derision and sarcasm, the stakes are deadly serious,” says associate director Christian Sorensen. “The body politic deserves a Congress that implements policies benefitting public good, such as universal healthcare, affordable housing, and bringing the troops home and taking care of them. The two-party system refuses to implement such policies. In mocking the congressional coward, the award highlights the change needed in the system. We the people must keep our eye on this ball.”
